Partner Spotlight: Pointer
A Conversation with CEO George Psaltakis
Every strong hosting company is built on trust. Not just trust in servers, networks, or infrastructure, but trust in the people behind the service.
For Pointer, that trust has been built over more than 20 years of serving the Greek market with reliable hosting, responsive support, and practical solutions for businesses, developers, e-shops, organizations, and professionals.
As part of the JetBackup Partner Spotlight series, we spoke with George Psaltakis about Pointer’s history, its focus on local support, the role backups play in customer confidence, and how the hosting industry is evolving.
Tell us about Pointer. How did you get started in hosting?
“Pointer has been active in web hosting and internet services for more than 20 years. We started with a clear goal: to provide reliable, high-quality hosting with real support from people who understand the needs of businesses, developers, and professionals.
Over the years, we have grown by focusing on stable infrastructure, honest service, and long-term customer relationships.”
That long-term approach has helped Pointer build a hosting business around consistency rather than shortcuts. For customers, that means working with a provider focused on dependable service, practical support, and relationships that grow over time.
What market, niche, or geographic region do you primarily serve?
“We primarily serve the Greek market, supporting businesses, web professionals, e-shops, organizations, and individuals who need dependable hosting and responsive support in Greek.”
This local focus gives Pointer a clear advantage. By serving customers in their own language and understanding the needs of the Greek business community, Pointer can deliver support that feels direct, relevant, and personal.
What makes Pointer different from larger, more generic hosting providers?
“Our main difference is that we combine strong technical infrastructure with personal service. Customers are not treated like ticket numbers.
We know our market well, we understand local business needs, and we focus on practical, reliable solutions rather than one-size-fits-all offerings.”
For many businesses, hosting is not just about server resources. It is about having a provider that understands the customer’s environment, responds quickly, and offers solutions that fit the real needs of the business.
What was the first customer, project, or moment that made you think, “We are really building something here”?
“There was not just one single moment. It was the steady trust of customers who kept expanding their services with us and referring others to our company.
That ongoing confidence showed us that we were building something meaningful and sustainable.”
Growth through referrals and expanded customer relationships is one of the strongest signals of trust in hosting. It shows that customers are not only staying, they are confident enough to recommend the service to others.
What do your customers value most about working with your team?
“Our customers value reliability, fast response, and direct communication. They know they can reach a team that will take ownership of an issue and work toward a practical solution.”
That sense of ownership is especially important when customers are dealing with website, application, or business-critical issues. Pointer’s team focuses on solving problems, not passing them along.
How do backups fit into your overall hosting strategy?
“Backups are a core part of our hosting strategy. We see them as essential for business continuity, customer confidence, and operational resilience.
A strong backup system is not an extra feature; it is part of the foundation of a serious hosting service.
We now use JetBackup and R1Soft in our own storages in Greece and leased storage in Europe.”
Pointer’s view of backups reflects a mature hosting strategy. Backups are not treated as a checkbox or add-on, but as part of the infrastructure customers depend on when something goes wrong.
Why did you choose JetBackup as part of your backup offering?
“We chose JetBackup because it provides a reliable and practical backup experience for both the hosting provider, for example limiting the number of backups, and the end customer.
It helps simplify backup management, gives customers flexibility when they need restores, and fits well into a professional hosting environment where speed and usability matter.”
For Pointer, JetBackup supports both operational control and customer usability. That balance matters because backup systems need to work for the hosting provider behind the scenes while also giving customers a clear path to recovery when they need it.
Has backup or restore capability ever helped you protect a customer, recover from an issue, or avoid a serious incident?
“Yes, absolutely. Backup and restore capabilities have repeatedly helped protect customers from accidental deletions, failed updates, and application-level issues.
In hosting, having a reliable restore path can make the difference between a small disruption and a major business problem.”
This is where backups become more than infrastructure. A fast, reliable restore can protect revenue, reduce stress, and help customers recover from mistakes or technical issues before they turn into larger problems.
Where do you see the hosting industry going over the next three years?
“We believe the industry will continue moving toward higher automation, stronger security standards, and greater customer expectations around performance and uptime.
At the same time, support quality and trust will remain major differentiators, especially for providers serving specific local or business-focused markets.”
As hosting becomes more automated and security expectations continue to rise, customer trust will remain essential. Providers that combine modern infrastructure with responsive, human support will continue to stand out.
A Hosting Partner Built on Trust, Local Support, and Reliable Recovery
Pointer’s story is a reminder that hosting is still a relationship-driven business. Infrastructure matters, but so does the confidence customers have in the team supporting it.
For more than 20 years, Pointer has served the Greek market by focusing on reliability, direct communication, and practical solutions. Their backup strategy reflects the same philosophy. Recovery is not treated as an optional extra. It is part of the foundation of a serious hosting service.
At JetBackup, we are proud to support hosting providers like Pointer that understand how important backup and restore capabilities are to business continuity. When customers face accidental deletions, failed updates, or application issues, a reliable restore path can turn a potential crisis into a manageable moment.
